Choose how you learn

The right driving lessons depend on where you're starting from.

A complete beginner doesn't necessarily need the same approach as someone who has already had 30 hours of tuition. And someone returning to driving after ten years needs something completely different again. Learning Kerb adapts the tuition to the person rather than expecting every learner to fit the same course.

Frequently asked questions

Choosing your driving lessons.

A few quick answers before you decide which type of tuition is right for you.

What's the difference between weekly and intensive driving lessons?
Weekly lessons spread your tuition over a longer period and give you time between sessions to reflect on what you've learned. Intensive tuition brings lessons closer together so you complete more driving hours over a shorter period. The best option depends on your experience, availability and how you learn.
Which driving lessons are best for a complete beginner?
For most complete beginners, structured weekly lessons are a good place to start. They allow skills and confidence to develop progressively without trying to absorb too much information at once. Confident beginners with sufficient availability may also consider intensive tuition.
How long are your standard driving lessons?
Standard weekly driving lessons are two hours long. This gives enough time to reach suitable training areas, practise the chosen skill properly and review your progress without rushing.
How much do weekly driving lessons cost?
A single two-hour weekly lesson costs £85. A ten-hour block costs £800, reducing the hourly rate to £80.
Can you help if I'm nervous about learning to drive?
Yes. Tuition can be adapted around your confidence. Skills can be introduced in smaller steps, explanations can be repeated in different ways and the level of support can be reduced gradually as you become more independent.
Do you offer automatic driving lessons?
Learning Kerb currently provides manual driving tuition only.
I've already had lessons with another instructor. Do I have to start again?
No. Your current ability can be assessed and tuition will continue from where you are rather than repeating skills you can already demonstrate safely and independently.
Do I have to pass my theory test before starting driving lessons?
No. You can start practical driving lessons before passing your theory test. In fact, seeing road signs, markings and rules in real driving situations can help theory topics make more sense. You will need to pass the theory test before booking your practical test.
